Žiraha is an unusual imaginary animal reminding of a zebra for its black and white stripes, of an elephant or rhino for its shape, and of a giraffe for its name. Besides being a lovable soft toy which inspires children’s imagination, it is also a very unique neck pillow. Žiraha is hand painted and wadded and it can have an embroidered or a felt eye in several colors. It is made by disabled persons in a small manufacture of Centre for inclusive work activities Zagreb.
Žiraha was inspired by the animals of the Zagreb Zoo and drawn by Ratko Koletić, an autistic artist, whose drawings were noticed at the first Croatian inclusive design workshop named Extra Ordinary Design that produced a whole series of products with the unusually attractive Žiraha character: toys, bags, t-shirts, aprons…
